ok guys here's the track finally which is now fully up and running, complete with full 14 metre straights, and 5 metre corners those 2 green grass mats where pushed together when we had the old track... thats how much it's been widened since the teams champs and jp's super saloon with a 10 turn motor in it Jp struggled around the corners with this beast but it was wickly quick on the straights, untill a rim fell off ;D ;D If your worried bout grip people, then don't be. as this beast was on foamies ;D ;D

yeah it's awesome when you go flat out down the straight and throw it sideways into a full corner drift.. ever seen a 3.4 kg stockie sideways on full treaded tires?.... looks like the real deal ;D

good track but not being a thingy or anything but i sort of don't like that as its to long because you will cook motors easier you can cook them easy on normal track sort of now its bigger and its got no middle, at teams i got taken out heaps by people cutting middle etc so yerr.. but thats my say.

actually tim but it's completely opposite to what your saying. the motors in fact run much cooler and we had the lil yellow mini stockcar manage to get out over 70 laps on one battery so therefore longer, MUCH longer runtimes...As for the infield?..... you need to actually drive around the track and not rely on the middle to "bounce"you back on track, hence why we have opted to leave the middle out I know i have invited you guys in the past to come down for a race but none have showed up. the only way to really grab a feel for our track is to get off ya backsides and make the trip... then you'll see how serious we take our research and development ;D Trust me. if you lot sneak down for a drive.. i garantuee you that you'll be going home smiling

Thanks to the Wellington guys, HB are looking at a similar track setup, although wont be quite as long or as wide, and we will be running an infield (more for the lap scoring system than anything else). At this stage we will be looking at an 18m long track with 8m wide (meaning 2.5m racing lanes and 3m infield). We will probably build the corners to be totally radiused (ie continuous bend), although this will reduce overall length of track.
Grunta what sort of gearing numbers are you guys going for on this track (low 6's?)...
also where did JP get those tyres/wheels cause they would look so cool on my new saloon car setup....
cheers
Dwayne
Ps did you guys use 15mm or 21mm ply for the track?

bloody hell dude you ask a lot of questions!
lap times.. not sure but we will let you know as soon as we actually do a lap time.. last sunday there was talk around the low 8 sec mark
JP's rims are a homemade special... which fall off due to the fact he missed one with glue ;D ;D
plywood came from mega mitre 10!.. thats all i know.......LOL

Hi Dwayne answers are 20m x 10m was the size quoted for the nats so i set it up practiced on it and loved it 2m lanes, we might increase this. unsure at the moment 3m corners 4x2 then 8mm ply cut into strips and doubled up ,1.2mm galv sheet over top gearing same as i use for a short track, the motors actually peak tt-01's are still using 19t and standard spur lap times ranging from 9.50's- 10.70's jp's tyres are pro 10 rubber with a aluminium sleeve mated to normal touring car foam rims our corners will end up radiused and a centre divider will be attached when we get a amb setup. the pole line has initial ideas of chamfered bits of timber and astro turf to slow up cars, but price is a factor.

Grunta - sorry bro but bling never responded to me emails!
Doug - thanks again for free info - other clubs should take note that wellington club are on the cutting edge of most things RC stockcar related but have always been willing to share the info. Long may that continue.
We will catch up soon when Hb come on an overnighter...Hopefully we will finalise track design and get building cause no racing sucks!
Cheers
Dwayne

Cheers Dwayne Your welcome Dwayne and yes no racing sucks big time. everyone that has raced on the big track, walked away going f*****k that is cool. what i have found is it's easy to lose a straight away but it can be hard to gain it back. think of this we have had 3 or 4 stocky's sideways through the turns passing each other , myself ,Ray and the madman have traded places 2 times through the corners on multiple occasions racing millimeters apart oh and horsepower still doesn't rule on this track, skill is rewarded but those of lesser skill( not a knock on anyone) are finding there groove very quickly and racing hard

OK correct me if Im wrong as im still learning some parts to do with rc but... with the shorter track the motors are getting hotter due to not getting up to top speed before backing off etc where as with the longer tracks the motor gets to run at top speed alowing it to work more free'er?
Cant wait to come down and race and I want to but not being able to drive ourselfs and relying on parents is the main problemo unless the adult racers are heading down.
